The Fall of a City using Sound…

In the Tanach, the use of sound to cause a city to fall is recorded in two instances, not limited to Jericho alone. The first occurrence is in the Book of Joshua, where the Israelites, following divine instruction, circled the city of Jericho for seven days with priests blowing trumpets made of rams’ horns. On the seventh day, after circling the city seven times, they shouted, and the walls of Jericho collapsed, allowing the Israelites to conquer the city. Joshua | Chapter 6

The second instance is found in the Book of Judges concerning the battle between Gideon and the Midianites. Gideon and his army surrounded the camp of the Midianites during the night and, at a signal, broke pitchers, revealing torches, and blew trumpets, causing a great noise, shouting: ‘For God and for Gideon!’ and later: ‘A sword for God and for Gideon!’ When the 300 horns sounded, God made all the Midianite men turn their own swords upon each other. This strategic use of sound led to the defeat of the Midianites. Judges | Chapter 7:16-20

Therefore, according to the Tanach, both Jericho and the battle involving Gideon demonstrate instances where sound played a pivotal role in the fall of cities.
